First off, a warning: One Liners are NOT accepted in our RPGs. Please keep it at a Turnbased style, only. In the future there may be extra sections for other styles and one-liners but until then, no one liners, please. Also, this information has been acquired from various sites, though I have tried to add in to certain spots to make it more Digimon Compatible.
Types of "Moding"
1. Knowledge moding: when a character suddenly knows something that it is impossible for him/her to know
Example 1: Habbib having just come to the tower for the first time goes straight to the Amyrlin’s office with no help from anyone. (Habib has never been to the towers therefore he cannot know where the study is without guidance)
Example 2: Jose, not knowing anything about how to crack safes, opens then bank vault and steals 1 million dollars.(Jose can’t open the safe he doesn’t know how to crack)
In Short: unless you can give a plausible and stone clad reason as to HOW you know something then you can’t know it.
2. Action moding: this is where character X says character Y did something without giving Y a chance to react.
Example: Habbib swings his sword at Jose’s head cleaving it in two after knocking Jose to the ground.(Jose never got the chance to react, who knows he could have rolled out of the way after being tripped, or found some way to never be tripped)
In short: this type of moding happens anytime one character says another did something. NOTE!!!: don’t get your panties in a wad about MINOR incidences of this. FOR EXAMPLE: Kaysee watched everyone leave after the ceremony was over. (this is minor and should be let past as the ceremony is over so of course everyone is going to leave)
3. God moding: This is the worst type of moding! This is where someone refuses to “lay down and admit defeat” as the saying goes or does impossible things (in this case something outside the rules of Digimon). This moding can come in many levels and often includes the other forms of moding within it.
Example 1: Habib swings his sword at Jose, Jose dodges the blow and stabs Habib, Habib dodges the stabbing attempt and swings his sword at Jose, Jose dodges, repeat ad infinitum. (in this example Jose and Habib are “invincible” they refuse to take a hit, yes it is role playing so we can do things we can’t do normally HOWEVER to make the role playing interesting and non- redudant characters need to be a bit fallible, they can’t dodge every blow and then immediately counterattack, a basic rule of thumb is if you dodged an attack you can’t immediately counterattack, or you could “minimize the damage” and still attack, i.e. Jose moves aside taking the blow to his shoulder rather then to the head and makes a stab at Habib’s gut)
In Short: DO NOT GOD MODE!!! Your character is not invincible, he/she can be hurt, trapped, and/or defeated and he/she isn’t anywhere near omnipotent. HOWEVER, considering it IS Digimon, its only logical that a mega feels NOTHING from a rookies attack. Dont expect a Mega to fall to his knees and bleed and feel pain over a attack done by a rookie; its simply impossible.
NOTE! If it is not too implausible, you can give a reasonable explanation for it, AND it is agreed upon then it is not necessarily moding. For example, if it is explained that Habib was able to find the Amyrlin’s study because he had a map drawn by his mother, who was a novice and washed out. Then it is not moding, unless there are serious and reasonable objections to it. Also, as noted above do not get uptight about minor incidences of action moding if it is something silly and obviously going to happen. An example would be assuming everyone has left from a meeting once said meeting is done. Just accept it and be thankful that you are saved the time of adding the one-line post “gets up and leaves.” You can move on with something else instead.
Whether you "think" you already know all about what moding is and all the ways in role play that are "acts of moding", it will be best that you read this page reguardless.
MODER: A character that has been fairly killed in RP, that seems to keep coming back, or decides not even to acknowledge that their character was killed at all. A character that has "god-like" abilities, preventing it from ever being killed, or even harmed in any way. A person who doesn't follow the proper guidelines of online role play that can cause an act of moding in various different forms (as described in this page).
MODING: The act of a moder.
Most Common Types of Moding:
More often than not; role players, even the best of them, unknowingly mix real life knowledge with their role play and/or someone elses'. Although this isn't as much of a problem and controversary, as other things in online role play, it can and does cause problems. Not to mention, it is not the proper way to role play, and is even a serious act of moding. We have all done it, certainly more than once in our time here, but that is because sometimes it is hard to "remember" that you cannot use certain information on a character, that you obtained OOC (out of character).
Every role player must realize that while playing a character, he/she must always stay true to the events that his/her character have and have not encountered. This meaning that a role player must remember he/she is "playing a character", and the character is the only one who should react to knowledge it has.
Here are some examples. These examples are the most common, in which role players cannot differentiate OOC and character knowledge.
#1...The MOST common "Greeting & Acknowledgements"
Let's say that you are in a chat room. In enters a character with the name "Donovan_Volar". With your character, you type in, "Greetings Donovan". Now Donovan is a character that you (or your character, either or both) have never met. So the correct way to have played out the greeting him, would be to NOT use his name. A situation like this, often results in the unknown character asking your character, "What....are you psychic or a mindreader??" Don't take that as he "just making conversation", because it is most-likely a sarcastic remark, due to your character happening to know the name of someone they have never met or seen.
You cannot use your real life knowledge, of seeing a characters name entering a chat room (or even on a message board), to your "characters" advantage. You are playing a CHARACTER in that room, NOT yourself. I was in a situation once where I was playing Serenesta. A character entered the room, and Serenesta proceeded to say, "State your name and your business in my Fortress." The character then typed in, "Dumbass, you see my name on the screen". I then had to explain to the idiot that Serenesta; being a CHARACTER, and that being a ROLE PLAY room, did not know his name because they had never met previously. This happens all too often, and it is sad that people are further away from truly knowing how to role play than they think. Just because you are good at typing some creative lines, does not mean that you know what you are doing by any means.
#2... "Real Life Knowledge of Character Profiles"
MSN profiles, although a near necessity for any role play character, are hardly ever used in the correct way. This will be rather complicated to explain, but I will do the best that I can.
MSN profiles are NOT there, to give other "characters" knowledge of the character. Profiles; whether they be the little ones in your chat profile, or entire profile pages that we all type up on the history, abilities, etc. of our characters, are ONLY there to "lay claim" to our characters, and provide others OOC, the knowledge of what we have all established to be "ours". Profiles are also there to have something as "proof" OOC, when a situation involves OOC, needing to "clear something up" that happened in role play.
Here is an example..... Donovan_Volar has established for his character, the history of being an illegitimate son of a Roman Caesar. He created for his character, a direct bloodline to this Roman Caesar, and was later embraced and made Vampire. Now one day, someone comes online playing the actual Roman Caesar that Donovan_Volar is son to. Now, no matter what the circumstances, the person playing the Donovan character, has every right to role play out that his character is son to that other character. His proof....in his profile. In a situation like this though, it is NOT recommemded that you try to create ANY character or storyline, off of someone elses' "all original" creations. That is a way of dictating, and/or altering what someone else created on their own, and you have no right to do that. That is why some people prefer to make everything up about their character, the character's history, powers and abilities, rather than using something that is widely known, or something from a movie. Role players have no rights to those characters, as one who created their character from scratch would, and you should always take that into consideration, before you try making ANY role play off of someone elses.
A more likely example.... Donovan_Volar has a power he obtained from a curse, that causes anyone who touches him, to become deathly ill. Now if while in a chat room, someone walks up and lays their hand on his shoulder, and Donovan proceeds to role play out telling that person they are going to become deathly ill for touching him, and they refuse to comply with that storyline, they can be called a moder.
Another way that people misuse character profile knowledge, is OOC reading about a characters history, abilities, and other such things, then proceeding to role play with their character, that they know all of this information on him or her.
The only time "OOC" profile knowledge should be used with a character, is when it is "visible" knowledge. Visible knowledge is being able to "see" what that character looks like, what kind of scars or tattoos a character may have, if the character is male, female, a child or a little old lady, or many other things that your CHARACTER can see if another character is standing there near him/her. We look at peoples profiles many times, to see if a certain character in a room is a male or female, because sometimes a name can look like both, and learning and using THAT OOC knowledge is perfectly acceptable. Because then we can type using "him" or "her", in place of their name, if our "character" has not learned the name yet.
Think of this in a real life situation. You are in a grocery store at the check-out, and in front of you is a woman reading a magazine. "Visibly", you can see what she looks like, and you can see that she is female, BUT you have never met her, so you know NOTHING "about" her, other than what you see there standing before you. It is no different with a character. If a character walks into the chat room, your character IS able to see him/her, but until your character learns more about him/her, the characters appearance is the ONLY thing you should role play out that your character knows. You cannot role play out that your character knows Vlad Dracula just walked into the room, unless your "character" knows what Vlad Dracula looks like, and knows that it is in fact him. Of course, there are also in many circumstances, that a character is so widely known about by other role players and characters, that even some characters that have never met that "known" person, they may know what he/she looks like, and "assume" that it is him or her. In a case like that, it is fine, but "known" characters are usually characters who have made a mark with their storyline, or characters who are considered "famous", or even "villians".
#3... "Counteracting Role Play Events with OOC Knowledge"
This act of moding, is also one of the most common, not to mention, used in a form of actually knowing you're moding. So many times, someone will tell someone OOC about a plot or plan that someone has with their character, and the person being told this OOC information, will proceed to use his/her "character" to try to counteract the plot or plan. This is one of the biggest, "DUH!" situations that I have ever seen.
Example.... A friend you role play with online just called you up to tell you that so-and-so is planning to use their character to kidnapp your characters child. Although it is all part of a storyline, you proceed to use the OOC information you obtained on that storyline, to have your "character" counteract the event. DUH! YOUR CHARACTER IS NOT SUPPOSED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS PLOT! YOU, were told of the plot OOC, your CHARACTER was NOT told.
Never, ever use OOC information that you have obtained about ANY storyline, to work against, or even "for" a storyline. Not only does this cheat all characters involved; even yours, but it cheats the entire basis of role play itself...and all that it stands for.
______________
#1... "Seperating What Your RL Eyes See From What Your Character Knows"
This becomes a problem in many cases, and here, I will try to help you keep from doing this improperly, now and in any of your future role play. So many times, there will be role play on a message board, and someone who wasn't involved in that particular role play, will proceed to "seem to know everything that happened", even though their character wasn't there.
You must learn to seperate what you "read" on the screen, from what your "character" has and has not seen or heard, or should not have any knowledge of.
Example...
Two characters are in a message board that in role play, is a chamber room. They are having a conversation about wanting to assassinate a member of the Empire. They proceed to talk over their entire plans of this assassination. Now your character was never in that room they spoke of this of, and maybe was even off in another role play somewhere, but the next day, in the chat room, or even the message board, you use your chaacter to role play out that he she heard or knows of what they spoke. This is not only a mode, but it is using RL/OOC knowledge to dictate the way you play your character. In truth, unless you find a Loophole (without moding), your character CANNOT role play out that he/she has knowledge of anything that was said, because it was not your character that obtained the information.
#2... "Rping Someone "Elses" Character Actions"
Now this doesn't usually happen too often, but it does happen. When role playing your character in a message board (or even a chat room), you should always remember that your character is the only one you have control of typing for, "in most cases".
Let's say that you are rping in a board with someone else who is actually playing another character. In your post, you proceed to type the actions of your character....
**Seria stumbled back from the blow that Damion had struck upon her. Trying to catch her breath, she began to feel delusional and clinched her eyes shut a moment, trying to shake off the feeling of dizziness. She opened her eyes to see Damion standing in front of her**
Now then Damion goes to reply in the next post....
~~Damion watched her with a devious smile. He could see the fear in her eyes. He could tell by the sweat on her forehead that she was beginning to tremble, and before she had a chance to run, speak or plead for mercy, Damion grabbed her by the throat and lifted her from the ground~~
Ok, now the things that you see underlined in the rp above, are things that Damion should not have typed out, because he is dictating the way SHE may be played by her typist. For one, Seria did not role play anywhere that she was fearful of him, so Damion's typist had no right to use a sentence indicating that she "is" fearful. He could have typed something to the extent of he "thinking" she may be fearful, but NOT that she "was". Also, no where did Seria say she was sweating, therefore Damion's typist had no right to make up role play for her, that she was sweating from the forehead. This can cause many problems between two people rping, because if you "type their lines for them", in a sense, you are "playing their character for them", and that is not right. It can cause many contridictions, because like in the rp example above, the way that Seria's typist made her character to be, could be completely reversed by someone else actioning things for her character that the character Seria may never have been intended to be played.
There are however, times when it is ok to "type forsomeone else", and here are those times...
1...If someone asks you to, or gives you permission to. 2...If you are typing for a character that ISN'T played by another actual person. Like if you create a guard or slave or villager, to use in one of your posts. (Known as a NPC). Or like in the example above, in lesson #1, with the use of the one who spoke "Bolba's" name aloud. 3...In a battle situation, when your character strikes another character, you may use, "watches as she is flown back ten feet", because that is the same (in most cases) as typing, "hits her, sending her flying back ten feet". You should be careful doing this though, because it is easy to contridict and dictate another's rp with use of "deciding" what should happen to one's character, if your character hits him/her. In this case, it really depends on the other person, and usually it's ok, unless the other person would have wanted to allow their character to do something other than "fly backward", but then there comes in moding in instances. It's hard to explain, so I would refrain from doing this, unless you know what you're doing.

....Building a character is both as hard and as easy as it may seem. It really depends on what kind of character you want to play, because around here, some types of characters are more accepted than others. Why? Well, some characters are considered too "far-fetched". Some are looked down upon if they aren't very original, and some are just boring.
The best way to create a character to play, is to choose something that is both familiar with other role players, as well as one that is moreso original.
The first and most important step in creating any character, is to "create a type of character that you will enjoy playing". If you create one that you may not be able to play very well, or one that doesn't suit your creative interests, not only will you get bored playing it, but others around you will get bored with it as well.
We will start with the basics...
*Choosing a character name & picture*
In my experiences, a name and picture were the hardest things to decide on. A name says alot about a character. Some names sound "strong", some "petite", some "wild", and so on. This opinion varies with different people of course, but let's see an example: The female name "Layla" sounds "soft", and even "innocent" to me, but I want to create a female warrior character. So using the name "Layla" wouldn't really go well with my character. Something like "Sepheria", to me would be more what I'm looking for. Although the name "Sepheria" also sounds like a sorceress' name to me. The point is that some names just aren't fit for certain character personalities.
Choosing a picture is easier, but the one thing that may be hard to get around, is finding one that you like, considering that your character is uniquely made, not a digimon/human tamer that is already well known.
When choosing a character picture, try your best to choose one that you have not seen very often used by others (again, only if it’s a unique and self-made character). If you haven't been around long enough to know how often other pictures are already used, that's understandable, and really there is nothing anyone can do about it.
However, if the picture is of someone elses unique (trademark too, since they’re the one who made it up and drawn it) but you didn’t know, that’s fine, but if that person does happen to notice you using it and wants you to remove it, you should respect his/her wishes. It is their character, and you have no right to use it without their permission.
*Creating your characters ‘kind,’ or ‘race‘.*
There are quite a few types of character races out there already to choose from, and it is fine to choose one of those...most people do. Here are some...
*Fairie Digimon *Demons/Demoness Digimon *Dragon Digimon *Reptile Digimon *Bird Digimon *Wolf Digimon *Phantom Digimon *Imp Digimon *Angel/Fallen Angel Digimon The list goes on. Digimon come in many forms, but human is a form only, well, humans can have, obviously…. A digimon may look human, IE Anglemon, but he is still a angel digimon, not a human. Even food can be used. Burgermon is a Food Digimon. Impmon is a imp-type digimon. And so on. See, theres really no limit to what you digimon character can be.
*Choosing your characters type*
This is only for Digimon (not including Digidestined-children chosen by the Digital World to help it in times of crisis). Digimon are separated in three types. These types are:
*Data - These are normally Good Digimon. *Virus - These are normally Evil Digimon *Vaccine - These are normally Good Digimon
*Creating your Digimons abilities/powers/etc*
...After you have put your Digimon (considering it is a unique and self-made digimon) together, giving your Digimon certain abilities should come next. There are even more abilities and powers out there to choose from. Here are some...
*Sorcery *Mindreading *Firebreathing *Shiftchanging *Flight *Mind control (IE Behemoth, however it hasn’t been reported that it is a digimon at all) *Camouflage *Mimicking *Invisibility *Super-Strength *Elemental Control/Influence
As for powers, it would be best to based them off your Digimon’s element type(IE Icedevimon is a ice element, obviously)… Lets face it, it would kinda weird to see a ice digimon have an fire attack. Your mind is the limit to what their powers can be, but try not to make it too far-fetched.
*Creating the background history of your character*
...This final part can take the longest, but depending on how much of an imagination you have, it can be the part you become most proud of, because most, if not all of it, will be like an original story coming from your mind, and no one elses. Believe it or not, a characters history is what makes every character so different an unique, even moreso than your characters abilities can.
The possibilities are endless, and the "original" possibilities are even more endless than histories that already exist. Because playing a fantasy (digimon) character, you have the ability to be whatever you want to be...not just what is already out there. It isn’t uncommon for someone to play a character that is already made, in fact few people do make original digimon, but if your digimon is original, its best to make everything about him more original, other then just the appearance.
.Names that symbolize "cool stuff" - Well, these have been used to death. Its like how ‘mon’ has been used to death, since every digimon’s name ends in it. (However, there are loopholes, which will be explained below if there are any to be explained for that name): A: Dark B: Blood C: Night D: Storm E: Rain F: Crimson G: Heart H: Black (there is a loophole here. This is Digimon, and digimon have been known to turn ‘black’. Or, evil. When this happens, their name normally do start with ‘black’. IE, Blackwargreymon. I: Soul J: Frost K: Angel L: Shadow M: Fire
Turn-based Fighting
"TB" or "Turnbase" style fighting is the most descriptive fighting style there is, and most do not base any part of TB on how fast one can type. Although this is true, it helps to not "take your time", because in a TB fight, it can last hours to DAYS if you let it, or if you take too long. But real life has been known to actually come between you and being able to get on the computer 24-7 to play in Rps. Yep, some people really do have something called a ‘real life.’ So don’t rush anyone. If they take more then two days, perhaps a request is in order. Ask them if they could find the time to hurry up and post, but don’t try to rush them too soon. Real life can be b*tch to some people.
Turnbase fighting has it's flaws though, and one of the main ones being that in a TB fight, (the way that most TBers do it) you must "depend" on the one you are fighting, to "agree" that the moves you made against him/her were "good enough", or "acceptable" to kill him/her.. This causes much friction and unecessary argueing, due to the fact that there are so many role players out there that just do not want to accept their character's deaths. Another disadvantage of a TB fight, is that most people don't like to fight or even watch a TB fight, because the long, drawn-out lines are considered "boring" and they "take forever".
Reguardless of what others don't like about Turnbase fighting in role play, TB is a highly sophisticated rpg fighting style, and is used by the more hardcore rpg fighters. "Hardcore" meaning the role play fighters that "really" get into the use and descriptions of their characters powers and abilities.
Before a TB fight, in many cases, both fighters will at times "talk over" the "stipulations", "time limits" and how many lines each player can produce in a single turn. In these lines, they are always long, very descriptive paragraphs.
Although TB fighting is a highly sophisticated way to fight in role play, still, it is the one style that takes "honesty" in both players, as well as both players being able to freely and easily "swallow their pride" and accept a hit or death on their character.. With there seriously not being many role players with things like honesty and fairness, TB style is and probably always will be only for a "select few people". However , if you are one with honesty and fairness, I'm sure you would be an excellent and MUCH APPRECIATED addition to the TB world.

There is some controversary over whether or not you are allowed to actually "hit" your opponent when using TB, In other words, "making actual contact" with the opponent.
Example: (Non Digimon, but still an example)
Zaya rushes forward in a blur, nearly unseen by Lord Mikal. Leaping into the air , she swiftly pulls a dagger from a strap on her thigh, just as she lands crouched directly in front of him, then Zaya slashes forward the dagger, slicing the flesh open on his calve. _____
It is uncertain just "how" controversial this is, but that is yet another reason it might be best to "talk over" the fight with the opponent, before the fight, just to make sure. Personally, I don't see why one could not make a direct hit on their opponent, and it doesn't make much sense to me as to their reasons why some don't allow it; whatever those reasons are, but as with any style, it is out of respect, that one fight the way(s) your opponent fights, or atleast be adult enough to both be able to come to some kind of aggreeable soultion.
One thing that all using this style, or really any style for that matter, should know, is the fact that when attacking or defending, you should always role play CORRECTLY the "circumstances".
Example: (Again, non-digimon) If your leg has just been nearly sliced off by your opponents sword, in your next line, you should always role play something that shows you acknowledge what was done to your character. . If you are the attacker, as the attacker, you should always take into consideration "what" you are attacking, and "where" your opponent is at the time of your attack.
Example: If in your opponents last line, he/she "sunk into the floor", and never role played that he/she came up, you can't very well strike something that you do not see. Or, if in your opponents last line, he/she jumped up over your head and landed in a high tree branch, you can't very well strike him/her with your hand, or sword in hand, unless you also action first that maybe your character leaps up into the tree as well, or something of that nature.
It's all common sense really, and isn't hard to understand. What you should remember is that you are fighting someone else, you're not fighting yourself, therefore you are not at liberty to "do whatever you want", because "your" lines aren't the only lines involved.
The last thing, is that with there being so many different characters, with many different abilities, any fighter should take into consideration what his/her opponent is capable of, before the fight, as well as during the fight. The one thing that 98% of role players do today on MSN, is mistake the fact that they cannot use OOC knowledge that they have about another "character", to their advantage when attacking a character with their character. . Just because "you", the person behind the keyboard, reads someones character profile, and learns about some of their magic and abilities, does not mean that your "character" knows these things, and you should never role play out that your character is ever aware of those abilities, UNLESS you have at one time role played out a way that your "character" would know them.. So just because you know OOC that a character has the ability to turn you to ice, does not mean you should role play that your character knows this and does things to try and avoid it happening to him/her. .
What's the difference?
You've been looking for a good rp site and suddenly you see something called.... The Creative Writing Style. You notice that most sites use something called a Turnbased style and begin to wonder exactly what the difference is....
The Creative style is as though you are writing a book. Each Char adds to a scene. You can actually write other characters into your scenes. The big drawback to this is well.... if you like playing your own char and don't like others playing your char, you're in trouble.
This is considered "moding" on turnbased sites. Frankly, my own opinion of this is that if you want to add a scene like that then do pool writing. I used my time and energy to create my character from scratch and then to have someone use my char in a way unbefitting he or she, I do not like. This is my personal opinion however.
Turnbased is literally taking turns posting with different characters. This allows much more interaction with other characters and typists.

This part is from a FAQ and Rules that I made for another board, The Hunted. http://predatorhunted.proboards31.com/ The rules and such have been changed to fit with the Digimon RPG.
_________________
What is an RPG, you may ask? An RPG is an Role Playing Game. Much like Dungeons and Dragons ® ™. Only here you RP as Digimon or Digimon Tamer.
Here’s the Rules and some answers to some questions you may have, along with a few examples on how to RP. (Please read and follow):
1. - What rule is there about a Character that I can I be? - There are NO ‘God’ characters. By that I mean, if your head got cut off, you’re dead. There’s no magical God powers and no immortals. Now while the Guardian Lord Digimon (® ™) are ranked as Gods, they are still not immortal, and can be killed. The rank, Guardian Lord Digimon, is just a rank. Dont have a hissy fit. They're like the Digimon Sovereign from Digimon Tamers, they are very powerful but still capable for being deleted. But in no way are they Immortal Gods.
2. -What Character (s) can I be?- You can be a Digimon, either one from the card game or shows, or one you invented yourself. Or you can be a human Tamer, where which you play the role of both the tamer AND the Digimon. (See rules 3 and 4 for more.)
3. -Can I create a RPG, and what rules are there behind it?- You can create a RPG, but by doing so you can still RP in it, but you are also the 'Administrator' of it. You describe the climate, the area, ect.. Is it a ship, a different world, a hunting ground, ECT.. Remember to describe it good and with plenty of detail, so the RPers will get an better idea of their surrounding(s) and such. This will help the RPG be more fun and easier to play. The Administrator(the one who made the RPG) can make a small list of rules, like what digimon are allowed, and from what season of digimon, ect. If he/she doesn’t allow Blackwargreymon or the tamers from Season 1&2 in it, then you have to follow his rules. In the RPG, although all are free to play, they can’t RP as one of the characters the Administrator doesn’t allow. If a RPer does something that breaks the unique rules of the Administrators, the administrator should PM him/her and give him/her a warning that he/she broke a rule. That’s about all they can do, but if the RPer is a good sport he/she should oblige to this and try better to follow the rules. Also, if the Administrator (not the one of the forum, but the one who made the RPG that you are currently in) has already planned out what happens in certain parts of the RPG, he or she should PM it to the members involved in his or her plan. Remember though, its no fun if everyone has to work it out the way you want, theres no surprise twists in it that way. This is basically just for when you either want someone to help introduce a new character to it, or find something hidden someone, or anything like that. Simple little things, not the entire RPG. I hope I explained that well enough. 4. -I really want to be a character that the Administrator wont allow. What can I do?- If you want to be a character that the Arbitrator (the person who started up the RPG you want to be in) doesn’t allow, please either be another character or PM him/her and ask if he/she will make an exception for your character.
5. -I died in the RPG! What’s going to happen to me?- Don’t worry if you are killed in an RPG, you can return to that same RPG as an different character or just go to an different RPG, up to you. However, if you did FAR in the rpg, it may be best for you not to return as someone else. You should discuss this out with the Administrator and see what he/she thinks of you returning as a different character.
6. -How do I fight other RPers?- If you are battling another RPer, there are no auto kills. As in (this example is not Digimon, but still an example nevertheless): [Draws out his blade and strikes at Bob, his blade coming in contact with his neck and slicing off his head, killing him.] That is a... poor description of a auto-kill, for it is a one liner and... well, just bad. But its just to give a basic idea of what I mean by 'auto kill'.
It is understandable that in a battle between two different RPers, that they can’t really defend themselves quickly. So this is left up to sportsmanship on who the winner is. Please put some ‘life’ into your attacks. Don’t put something lame like: [stabs Bob in his chest] Thats not only against the rules (one liner) but its also no fun to RP with someone like that. Put down more so the onlookers can really ‘see’ the fight. You know, describe your attack, your stance, stuff like that. Instead of a simple sentence try to put detail in your actions. In a paragraph form. This goes even if you’re not fighting another RPer. Paragraphs and detail are great for bring the text 'to life'. Remember, this isnt a movie, its reading... They cant really see this, they have to read it, so put some good details so they can view the fight mentally in their head, it makes the experience all the more fun.
7. -I want to fight to show off my character's skills, but not with another RPer, what should I do?- You don’t have to do battle with a RPer, you can also battle an NPC. A NPC is basically an Non-Player Character, one you make yourself simply to do battle with. They're also used as guards or sometimes even slaves. Its up to you. Even though its a NPC, you should still put more detail into it, what do the human/creature(s) do? How do they fight back? It’s up to YOU to describe their actions along with yours, because they are, after all, characters that you made up to battle. Unless of course they're guards, or slaves. You still describe their actions, nevertheless. Rather its the guards fighting off some other NPC that is attacking you, or stepping infront of an attack to protect you, or if its just a slave running off to get you a drink or something, you still need details.
Here is a copy from an actually RP, they dont always have to be this long, in fact they can just be half as long (where he places the *'s) but this is still a perfect example of a detailed Para, IMO. __________________ Grievous was slightly taken a back by Kroenen's lust to find and kill the jedi, but was never the less, pleased at his enthusiasm. Slowly Grievous reached into his cape and from concealed pockets began removing lightsabers from them. Gently, he slid seven of the sabers into the anti-grav belt around his waist, the sleek customized hilts hovering around his waist.
With that, he unhinged the cape, allowing it to fall to the ground, and reviel his skeletal form. With the cape now off, instead of hunching over, he stood erect, displaying the mechanical perfection that he was believed to be. The two eyes that sat deep within the dread mask of his face were framed by a sleek head, two blade features slicing down on either side.
The large head sat on an impossibly thin neck created from an intwining of cords and metal tubings that hissed softly every time he moved his head. His chest and waist were fragmented, truely looking like the ivory skeleton of some long dead humanoid, save for the silver ribs that crossed over the waist from the mechanical spinal cord on the back.
His arms too were thin, and unusually long, with small, six fingered hands at the end. The fingers were sharp at the end, and sloly curled into fists as he began to rise to his full height on the twisted, double jointed legs he stood on. Bending back like a birds, the legs had two knees to allow him full movement, and also similar to some birds, they ended in metallic, taloned feet. The feet too were and oddity, two toes in front, one on either side, and two in the back, reminiscent of the hands.
His raspy breathing filled the large hallway as he stood, his head almost scraping the low ceiling, only inches away from doing so.
"Well Gentlemen, I believe we have a Jedi to catch." He hissed, his eyes narrowing.
* * *
With a deafening roar, the large shuttle which contained the three slowly began to descend, landing with a vague thud onto the planets surface. Settling at last on a grassy stretch, the shuttle doors hissed open, a ramp sliding down as it did so.
Grievous was the first to exit the ship, his metal talons clicking on the ramp, then sinking into the moist, black soil of Kashyyk. They had just landed on the planet, and already Grievous felt something was amiss. He turned his head to the left, looking in the distance, the scanners within his eyes vaguely cross viewing the surrouding area.
He snarled, animalistic and deep. Durge was here, he could recognize the second rate pile of scrap metal he called a ship anywhere. Perhaps this was the perfect time to finish the vile worm, as it was a remote planet, and he wouldn't be too hard to defeat. After all, Grievous had read the files on the Gen'dai, and knew exactly where the nerve endings were, and exactly where to sever them.
"We may be having a little company later." Grievous commented, looking back to the others.
So, this was the area the Jedi had chosen as a base of operations. It was a sad excuse for a planet, with a technologically hindered species for it's natives. Wookies were powerful, both physically and mentally...however technology wasn't their forte, and he didn't think they minded that fact. Still, some of their items could use a little touching up on, as well as their weaponry. Aside from the bowcaster, it was all virtually primitive compared to the items species like the Geonosians could create.
Now, there was just the matter of where the Jedi was exactly. They knew he was here on Kashyyk, and Grievous remembered Kroenen mentioning something about a tracking device. Speed was of the essence, time was a massive factor in this playing feild. He wondered slightly if the Jedi had any help from the wookies...he doubted it, they were no where near nuetral, but at the same time, they weren't truely interested in the war. At least, not yet.
General Grievous turned away from the forest, facing Kroenen. "You mentioned earlier, a tracking device no? Now would be the time to use it, I believe Durge, the hand me down bounty hunter is also on this planet already, and hunting the Jedi." ______________
It may be from Star Wars, but its still good. Anyway, thats all for now. If you have any questions, please feel free to post or PM me or any other Administrator.
